Hi, I have gastric ulcers and have been tested for H-Pylori twice and it came back negative. Do you know what else could be causing my ulcers?

I think it’s also important to note that there have been incredible new developments in testing for celiac disease, which has really led to growth in diagnosis. Have you heard about the two new tests? Prometheus Labs just launched a new genetic test that can be used at home and 2G Pharma released the Biocard finger prick test, which will tell you if you have the antibodies related to celiac disease. You can take the Biocard test at home by pricking your finger and get results in 10 minutes.

Thank you JP, your blog is a font of solid information imo. I was a bit confused, started doing some research and have come to the same conclusion. Thanks for taking the time to look into it and for the sound advice. lumen.

Good day, Lumen.

Supplemental glutamine is typically gluten-free. Just to be on the safe side, you might want to look for that declaration on the label of any product you're thinking of using. I checked a few of the brands at a local health food store today and verified that they were certified to be free of gluten.

There is some evidence that suggests that l-glutamine can help support the integrity of the intestinal tract. Some nutritionally oriented physicians do use it to re-establish GI health - sometimes in patients with gluten intolerance/sensitivity.

Here's a good overview about this and related topics:

It's my pleasure, Nyomi. Thank you for your kind remarks.

Glutamine is used by many holistically-inclined physicians to support GI health in general. For instance, I recall that Dr. Leo Galland (a Harvard trained integrative health expert) employs this amino acid to help with "leaky gut syndrome" and other digestive ills.
